The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), a Chinese celebratory season observed by many East and Southeast Asians, has begun. Held on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which is in the middle of autumn, the festival marks the end of the season’s harvest and is a time to appreciate the moon at its fullest and brightest. Besides feasting eyes on the moon and lanterns of different shapes and sizes, Mooncakes (月饼), a rich pastry with all sorts of fillings, are undoubtedly the main highlight of the festival and are traditionally shared among family and friends.
Tumblr media
The Cantonese Mooncake (广式月饼) is the most commonly found traditional mooncake in Singapore. Its fillings consist of lotus seed or red bean paste and usually include one, two or four salted duck egg yolks. Many would also be familiar with the snow skin variant that was created in Hong Kong in the 1960s as a healthier alternative to traditional baked mooncakes. The fillings and a ball of dough are traditionally pressed into a wooden mould, which embosses intricate wordings of the pastry shop’s name or stuffing on top of the pastry.
Tumblr media
A mooncake with various flavours such as rich, savoury-sweet and peppery, the Hainanese Mooncake (海南月饼), also known as Su Yan Bing (酥盐饼) is traditionally filled with ingredients such as fried shallots, lard, salt, white pepper, rose-flavoured white sugar, sesame seeds, melon seeds and dried wild tangerine skin peel. The filling is encased in a thin crust made with flour, salt and lard.
Tumblr media
The Hakka Mooncake (客家月饼) is also called Yu Gao (月糕) and is a flat, snow-white disc that is typically made with cooked glutinous rice flour and sugar, giving it a crumbly and powdery texture. It is usually embellished with more intricate designs, often with animals and flowers. Although it doesn’t usually contain any fillings, some come with candied winter melon, desiccated coconut and sesame seeds mixed with glutinous rice flour, sugar, margarine and water.
Tumblr media
Easily distinguishable by the red stamp of Chinese characters on the top of the crust and its white disc-shaped pastry which resembles a bright moon, the Hokkien Mooncake (福建月饼) consists of a dry and sweet filling that is made of candied winter melon, tangerine peel, melon seeds, sugar, and cooked with lard or peanut oil. A less common type is a savoury version with minced meat filling. Once known as Scholar Cakes (状元糕), they were given to those who took part in the Imperial examinations. Today, it is given as a symbol of good luck to those who are about to sit for their exams.
Tumblr media
Many would be familiar with the Teochew Mooncakes (潮州月饼). It has a crispy, spiral-layered crust that crumbles easily. It originated from the Chaoshan (潮汕) area in Guangdong Province and typically consists of yam paste and a salted duck egg yolk. Other traditional versions of the Teochew mooncake are still made by old school bakeries in Singapore. For example, La Bia (朥饼 or lard biscuit), where ‘La’ refers to pork oil, has a thinner, flaky crust with a thick mung bean or red bean filling. There are also alternative fillings including red bean, mung bean or lotus seed paste. There is also a steamed version of the typically baked Teochew mooncake, called La Gao (朥糕). It can either be served plain or with a mung bean filling.
Tumblr media
A Snow Skin Mooncake (冰皮月饼) variant was created in Hong Kong in the 1960s as a healthier alternative to traditional baked mooncakes. Similar to mochi, its crust is made of glutinous rice flour and varies in colour, based on the flavours used. And unlike traditional mooncakes, these are best served cold!

Finished off the Beachmech Kill Team (and a few friends), and finally decided on basing scheme. It is slightly silly and I am very pleased with it 🏝️🤖🏝️
Group shots + more individual details.
_____
Used: Fine sand + PVA; bits of a plastic sheet with embossed squares I hoarded for the Basing Stuff box aaaages ago; old dry snail shells from the garden; resin coconuts from the basing box; some Gamers Grass tufts; some bits of plastic palm tree that @mattbag bought a while ago for a different project.
I have four more assembled / primed Skitarii, and still to build: a couple of caterpillar track centaur like cyborgs (I forgot the unit name), another tech priest; and a Dunecrawler (crab tank). Which will put me at a bit under 700pts of Admech, and at that point I will:
A) probably have run out of ideas for Hawaiian shirts,
B) have painted everything we got for cheap via the magazine, so the 'do I want more of this' becomes more of a £ question than a time one!
C) probably have gone back to playing 'Will It Sorcerer' for my 1Ks.
I mean, I should probably also play the game(s)...

Customized Fragrance Sets for Clients: The New Trend in Corporate Hampers
Tumblr media
Corporate gifting has always been about leaving a lasting impression, something that resonates with elegance, class, and thoughtfulness. But lately, there's been a shift. Businesses are moving away from generic gifts like branded pens and mugs, leaning instead towards experiences that engage the senses. And you know what? Scented gifts are leading the way. Among them, customized fragrance sets for clients are redefining what it means to gift with purpose.
A Whiff of Luxury: Why Fragrance Matters
Think about it, scent is the sense most closely tied to memory. A whiff of vanilla might take you back to cozy evenings, while lavender can transport you to a calm, sunlit field. It's powerful. Now imagine gifting that kind of experience to your clients. Fragrance candles, especially those curated in luxury candle gift boxes, offer more than just a pleasant aroma; they create lasting memories tied directly to your brand.
The Rise of Personalized Gifting
In the era of personalization, people want gifts that reflect thought and intention. That’s where custom corporate candles come in. Businesses are opting for candles embossed with their logos or tailored fragrances that align with their brand ethos. It’s not just about the scent; it’s about the story behind it. A fragrance that speaks of luxury, care, and attention to detail is far more memorable than yet another branded pen.
Perfect for Every Occasion
One of the reasons customized fragrance sets for clients are gaining popularity is their versatility. Whether it’s a celebration, a client appreciation event, or a festive occasion like Diwali or Christmas, these fragrance sets fit perfectly. They can be tailored with seasonal scents or unique blends that reflect the spirit of the event. And when presented in luxury candle gift boxes, they elevate the unboxing experience to something truly special.
Eco-Friendly and Elegant
Modern corporate gifting is not just about luxury; it’s also about sustainability. High-quality scented candles are often made from natural waxes like soy or coconut, ensuring a cleaner burn and a smaller carbon footprint. For brands that value sustainability, this is a win-win. You’re not only gifting elegance but also showing your commitment to eco-friendly practices.
MIAAKA’s Touch: Crafting Memories with Fragrance
At MIAAKA, we understand that corporate gifting is more than just an exchange; it’s a gesture that speaks of appreciation and care. That’s why our custom corporate candles are designed with meticulous attention to detail. From the fragrance selection to the luxurious packaging, every element is crafted to leave a lasting impression. And with options to customize scents and even emboss your brand logo, the experience is both personal and professional.
Final Thoughts: The Scent of Appreciation
In a world where first impressions matter, gifting something as personal as a customized fragrance set isn’t just thoughtful, it’s strategic. It speaks to your brand’s commitment to quality, luxury, and meaningful connections. So, the next time you’re planning corporate hampers, remember: a beautifully scented candle can light up more than just a room; it can illuminate your brand in the minds of your clients.
Explore the collection at MIAAKA and redefine your corporate gifting experience.

Creative Catering Ideas Using Biodegradable Disposable Plates
Tumblr media
In the catering world, presentation and sustainability have become equally important. Biodegradable disposable plates are revolutionizing how caterers serve food, offering an eco-friendly option that doesn’t compromise style. Whether planning an elegant wedding, a casual picnic, or a corporate event, these plates can elevate your catering while minimizing your environmental footprint. Here are some creative ideas for incorporating biodegradable disposable plates into your catering events.
Themed Food Stations with Coordinated Plates
Biodegradable disposable plates come in various shapes, sizes, and textures, making them perfect for themed food stations. For example:
Tropical Themes: Use bamboo or sugarcane plates to complement a tropical-themed menu featuring fresh fruits, seafood, and coconut-based dishes.
Rustic Vibes: Pair earthy, compostable plates with a rustic menu of grilled meats, artisan bread, and hearty salads.
Modern Minimalist: Choose clean, white bagasse plates for a chic, minimalist look that complements contemporary cuisine.
Eco-Friendly Grazing Platters
Grazing tables have become a popular catering trend, and biodegradable plates are ideal for serving individual portions. Arrange cheese, crackers, charcuterie, and fresh fruits on small biodegradable plates for guests to grab and go.
You can also create personalized platters for each guest, minimizing food waste and ensuring everyone gets a taste of the spread.
Miniature Meals on Small Plates
For cocktail parties or appetizer-focused events, consider using smaller biodegradable plates to serve bite-sized portions. Dishes like sliders, sushi rolls, and mini desserts can be presented elegantly on these plates, adding sophistication while keeping the event eco-friendly.
The lightweight and sturdy nature of biodegradable plates makes them perfect for handheld dishes that guests can enjoy while mingling.
Build-Your-Own Dish Stations
Interactive food stations are always a hit at events. Use biodegradable plates to set up build-your-own taco bars, salad stations, or dessert corners. Guests can customize their meals while using sustainable tableware, creating a memorable and environmentally responsible experience.
Dessert Displays with Artistic Flair
Dessert is often the highlight of any event, and biodegradable plates can add a unique touch to your dessert table. Use leaf-shaped plates for serving cupcakes, cookies, or macarons, creating a visually appealing display.
For a more upscale look, consider plating individual desserts like panna cotta or tiramisu in biodegradable bowls, complete with edible garnishes.
Eco-Chic Buffet Presentations
Buffet-style catering is another opportunity to showcase biodegradable disposable plates. Use plates made from natural materials to enhance the overall aesthetic of your buffet setup. Stack them neatly at each station, ensuring guests can easily serve themselves.
Pair these plates with wooden cutlery or biodegradable serving utensils for a cohesive and eco-friendly look.
Outdoor Picnic-Style Catering
For casual outdoor events like picnics, biodegradable plates are both practical and stylish. Use them to serve sandwiches, pasta salads, and finger foods in individual portions. Compostable plates made from sugarcane or palm leaves are durable enough to handle heavier foods, ensuring a hassle-free dining experience.
Encourage guests to dispose of their plates in compost bins, making clean-up easy and environmentally friendly.
Upscale Plating for Formal Events
Biodegradable plates aren’t just for casual gatherings—they can also be used for formal occasions. Choose high-quality options with elegant textures or embossed designs for serving gourmet dishes.
Combine these plates with biodegradable napkins and glassware for a cohesive table setting that exudes sophistication while aligning with sustainability goals.
Creative Food Presentation with Layers
Biodegradable plates can also be used as a canvas for layered food presentations. For instance, serve multi-layered parfaits, deconstructed salads, or tiered appetizers in an aesthetically pleasing manner. The natural look of these plates enhances the visual appeal of your culinary creations.
Personalized Plates for Guest Keepsakes
Take your catering up a notch by customizing biodegradable plates with event-specific messages or designs. This could include the name of the event, a thank-you note, or a simple logo. Personalized plates not only enhance the guest experience but also leave a lasting impression.
Conclusion
Biodegradable disposable plates are more than just practical—they’re a gateway to creative and eco-friendly catering solutions. From themed food stations to personalized presentations, these plates allow caterers to innovate while promoting sustainability.
By choosing biodegradable tableware, you’re not only simplifying event logistics but also contributing to a greener planet. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, incorporating biodegradable plates into your catering strategy ensures a stylish, memorable, and environmentally conscious event.

Chapter-5
“Its Alive”
Tumblr media
Next morning we were all set along with our bags. Anna, me, Jack and Martha, We all were ready for exploring the island. We all took the necessary stuffs like Food, mini stove, Knife, spoon, and few paltes. And ya! Bread and jam too. I looked at that book “the tree of life” And kept in my bag, i thought I would read it, Reason was its cover, it was like made from tree bark and a embossed tree imprinted on it. And then we marched toward the woods behind the house. It was all green out there. We didn’t find any significance of any human touch. But there were trails like someone use to walk on it but there were no human foot prints. So we decided to follow the trails, maybe we could find something on the other side. We kept walking until there was a divergent of path. We decided to go to the left first and then the right one. Anna and I were carrying the bags and she had the camera. so she kept clicking the photos of nearby things like flowers birds, trees and us. I was just following her footsteps, because I am very bad at exploring things but she always finds out the way. Jack and Martha kept looking with there nose all the way to find something, something interesting maybe.
“Anna, did you here the music last night” I asked her.
“Ya anna we heard it too” Jack said to anna.
“Ya. it was so beautiful, We thought you were playing it.” Martha said to us.
“Of Corse I heard it but, I thought Matthew told you both to play the music, he always do such thing” Anna said.
“No Anna. Last night I didn’t do any thing…..What if someone is living here? Other than us” I asked.
“That’s what we are here to do. We will explore, May be we could some other people, after all it a vacation spot” Anna said to us.
“But Anna I don’t think there is any other human on this island, I smelled everywhere, I didn’t find any human smell” Jack said.
“Ya Anna I don’t think so there are any other humans” Martha agreed with him.
“Then what it could be?” I asked.
“Hmmm… Lets go and find it out” Anna said. And we kept walking.
We ended up on a beach at the end of the trail with lot of coconut trees. We had few fruits we found on the way. It was already after noon and the sky was clear, We looked around and there were no any another people then us. And the big endless beautiful bulesgreen  sea! it was calling us to take a dive. But before that I paced the blanket sheet on the beach and we rest for almost half an hour and enjoyed sandwiches I made in the morning.  And then Anna and I ran in to the sea. Jack and Martha was still playing on the sandy surface while we walked in to the water holding each other’s hand.
As the sea tides came and covered our feet, we both looked at each other and smiled, like the first time we went on vacation trip. Our first honeymoon! after marriage. We both were shy then. But somehow we managed it to hold each other. She was still looking as beautiful as I saw her for the first time in my collage day. And the library, it all started from the library. She loves to read and write, I use to hold the book just to see her. And the way she came in my life and changed everything. I was so changed man by now just because of her. I looked the ocean for a moment and then at her, I took her in my arms and walked in the never ending ocean.
“Matthew, what are you doing” she asked laughing and tried to get away from arms.
“I am doing that I suppose to do long time ago” I said and jumped in to the sea with her. And  we were swimming and cuddling with each other and playing.
“Tell me the last time we enjoyed such time” I asked. she didn’t  said anything but she was smiling and came on my back. And I knew what to do. I was her flight I kept swimming everywhere having her on my back. And after few round of circle she told me to dive, So I did.  I took the dive and she came in front of me under the water. We both were holding each other’s hand  and looking at each other we came close and kissed each other,  and along with the kiss she did the most delighted thing, She breathed me, I felt fragrance of her breaths, deep till all corners of my heart and lungs, I felt drunk for few moment. Then she looked and me and smiled and we came back on the surface. She again came on my back and we came on the sandy surface and fall on the blanket to take a nap for a couple of moments while Jack and Martha were still playing there and enjoying the there time.
“Matthew.  Are we going to do the camping here” Jack asked.
“No we are going on the other trail we left behind, we will find some other place there” Anna said before I could say something.
And again we all were moving in the forest and we reached on the other tail, there was an old sign board we didn’t see before, but the writings were faded so we couldn’t figure it out what was written on it but we decided to kept moving on it and almost half an hour we finally came to an end the trail. There was a giant massive old tree, it was very big. It reminded me cover of that book that Jack brought from the basement. We found it weird because we never saw such tree before. And there was a nice clean rocky surface just in front of that tree and lot of flowers plants around us. It was already evening by now and sun was just about to go down. So we decided to do the camping there. Anna told us to collect some dry woods and fruits from nearby. There were lots of fruit and berries tree. So I and jack went to do our job while Anna and Martha were arranging the tents for night stay.
It was already dark by now, we all were done with our work by now and we started the campfire. We all were sitting around the fire, We felt cold as the night was getting darker.
“So, Matthew? Let’s play something” Jack said.
“Its not ‘playing’ its ‘sharing’ you Dumbo.” Martha punched him and said.
“Ya, that’s what I wanted to say,. Let share something… Something about your space missions.” Jack said.
“Yes Anna what happed on your last trip” Martha asked so curiously.
“Its really a long story, Martha.” Anna said.
“You know what happed there, We went to a planet called “Zecros” and there…” I was trying to narrate that horrible story but Anna didn’t let me finish with my words.
“And nothing happened (looking at me with big eyes) We just had a delivery to make, of a briefcase. And there we made few friends too and we attended there marriage. And then come back home.” Anna said.
“So you made friends there, Are they better than us.” Martha asked.
“Ya. Anna, I thought we are the only you have” jack said with a sad face.
“Ya there are lot of people and friends… But” Anna said.
“But what?” Jack said. And I was smiling.
“But there are no batter companion then you both… and you both are my best buddy” Anna said while I was smiling and watching her saying such thing. Because, she never said such things for me. Jack and Martha  quickly jumped beside her.
“See I told you we are her best friends” jack said to Martha.
“Hmmm..” Martha said.
“What are you doing, Why are you smiling like an idiot?” Anna said to me. I came back to my senses.
“What?” I asked. As I don’t know what she is asking for?
“Prepare some dishes. They all must be hungry by now.” Anna said. I wanted to tell her that “I am hungry too, is there is anyone who cares about that?” But  that was meaningless thing to do. I arranged dishes with bread jam, fruits and berry and Marshmallow barbecue.
“Hey Matthew, will you tell us story what happed on your first honeymoon?” Jack said while enjoying the marshmallow.
“Ya, Matthew tell them what happened on our first honeymoon” Anna said with a laugh and I knows why she was laughing .
“Did something dumb happed on first trip” Martha asked.
“Ya. There was no first trip at all” I said.  Anna was still laughing at me watching my falling face and her laugh was making feel so sad and dumb.
“What do you mean, there was no first trip?” Martha said.
“I was so late to book the tickets then. All tickets were sold out and we were out of any trip in our budget. But we were still on holydays, So Anna decided to visit all the famous places like museum and parks of our own city. We went to the museum and few roller-coaster rides and the food streets at evening…” I was saying.
“But it was still fun know. We enjoyed rooming around the streets of our own city; we never looked at the city like that before. We didn’t felt like we missed anything; infect it more interesting than the trip. It was still beautiful and memorable. I wish you both were there with us on that time, we enjoyed so much” Anna said. She was looking at me with a smile. And I was smiling back.
“Now its your turn jack to say something, tell me what you both do when we are out of the house” I asked. I always wanted to know what they actually do in our absence.
“O! we watch our neighbors, play with some other street buddy’s and some time we do some secr… Ouch!” Jack was trying to say something but Martha punched him.
“He means watching some match scores on TV.” Martha said. And me and Anna we both felt they are hiding something. But we didn’t interrupt them. It was already so dark at night and the fire was about to finish. Anna told to get in the tent to sleep, So I added few more wood before going to sleep.  and we all went inside the tent to sleep.
Almost after half an hour we saw light around our tent, me and Anna were still awake while jack and Martha were already went to sleep. We came out and saw that big tree and the flowers, it was all glowing, and we were so fascinated to watch that. We both were blank watching things around us and then we saw birds coming and set on the branches of that tree. Those birds started sing. Ya birds were singing. I thought I was watching a dream.
“Matthew isn’t it’s the same music we heard last night” Anna said patting my shoulder with her hand.
“Ya…” I said.
“What’s Going on” Martha came with a yawn. And jack took. Jack rubbed his eyes twice.
“Is this for real, is this really happing” Jack asked.
“Ya I think so” Martha said looking around with her wide eyes open. Actually we all felt the same as Martha.
“Anna, What is happening” I asked Anna.
“I don’t know lets go and see” she took my hand and walked toward that tree. And we all were slowly steeping.
“Bird are singing” Anna said.
“Ya, I can see that” I said.
“No I didn’t mean that. I mean if the birds are singing then who is playing the music” Anna said, only she can think of such thing to investigate. We all wanted to know what is actually happening here.
“hmmm there are instrumentals music other than singing.” I said.
“Hey Matthew, I think it’s coming from the flowers.” Jack said.
“What” I said. And moved towered the flowers. I was just about to touch that one from that flower.
“I won’t do that son” A heavy ghostly voice hit our ears and we all were freeze except jack. He quickly jumped back and started baking at tree.
“Flowers look beautiful on branches more then in someone’s hand” Again the same voice came.
“It’s coming from the tree.. I thing its hiding under the tree” Jack said and kept barking. “Calm down my child, I am the tree” Another voice hit our ears. We all were frightened by now. Is that tree was really talking to us. We all had the question in our minds. (And our conversation wen on)

How come a small country like Vietnam was able to defeat the Chinese Army during the Sino-Vietnam war?
I’ve got a nice chat with my father in law who was a veteran in both American war and Chinese border war.
His unit arrived at the border just 1 Arizona Diamondbacks Hawaiian Shirt White Aloha Palm Islands before the invasion to setup the defense line.
The next day at exact 07:00 there was countless human wave attack his position. That afternoon when his positon about to break, to his surprise, the Chinese army stop.
The next few days, same thing repeat: Attack at 07:00 and stop at 16:00. Soon he realized facing an Arizona Diamondbacks Hawaiian Shirt Coconut Trees Trendy Summer where front line officers have little room to exploit the actual progress, the officer’s main task is to follow whatever the far away headquarter commander think it’s right. Also they don’t have airplane , tank are generally obsolete and can’t do shit in mountainous battlefield.
After 1 week fighting, father’s unit run out of ammunition and supply and they have to fall back at night. They tried and failed retreating via jungle (you can’t simply infiltrate through tropical dense forest) and decided using the lightly guarded trail. To his surprise, few Arizona Diamondbacks Red Hawaiian Shirt see them but did nothing to stop the retreat. They may tired, demotivated or just don’t feel like fighting outside the “office hours” 07:00–16:00…
Feb 1979, my father in law unit lost 60 of total 300 man but he said facing Chinese army is nothing compared to fighting the Arizona Diamondbacks Embossed Flower MLB Red Hawaiian Shirt For Men Women. Amateur
